Jobs that we have enjoyed performing.
Customers were tripping across their home over these steps that were not supposed to be in the middle of the floor |
These cases of lippage were way out of control. Even the thickness of a dime is over the acceptable amount of lippage. 0.031" is the maximum step from tile to tile (about the thickness of a credit card). |

...Enter Great Northern Stone
We have the tools and we have the talent.
P. S. Notice the protection on the walls. |
I love it when a plan comes together! |
We love our work.....and it shows. Our customers love us. |
| CASE # 2 |
-Who Smothered the Floor? AKA "The Cover Up" |
Who waxed this floor and why does it look so bad?
Contrary to popular belief, wax does not make stone look better.
Are those supposed to be lights reflecting on the right hand side? You would never know it when that beautiful stone is covered by 18 years of plastic wax build up. Notice as well, the dirty grout. |
GNS can fix it.
Now that looks better! The tile and the grout look cleaner and brighter.
Where did all that wax go?
Not only does that floor look better, but it feels better as well.
| CASE # 3 |
-The Dual Personality Floor |
"Can you polish up against honed?"
This is a question we often hear.
"Oh yeah!"
We can do whatever is needed to whatever stone you bring us. When you love your work like we do, nothing poses a problem.
| CASE # 4 |
-The Multiple Surface Marathon |
How many surfaces can you see?
There are actually 7 different types of stones that need to be worked on in this one room. All needed different treatments. GNS was on the case!
Bring us your tired, your worn, your honed, your polished, your tumbled marbles and granites and we will restore and transform them into their former beauty. |
This is too much fun! |
| CASE # 5 |
-The Challenging Duo |
"What about travertine with granite inserts? I've heard that is hard to do"
Not for GNS! We live for this stuff. |
We can handle granite and refill travertine holes with both traverfill (left)........ |
....or polyester (too give consistent shine throughout tile) |
Who says travertine needs to look dull? |
| CASE # 6 |
-Grunge Watch (2 part mini-series) |
"What about grout? Can you clean and seal my grout?"
No problem! We have been the experts on grout cleaning and sealing since 1992. We have pioneered the technology for this and continue to do so |
This is just gross! |
Now that is better! |
| CASE # 7 |
The Black Marble |
The victim is an innocent black marble. The softest and most vulnerable of the industry. This particular stone was scattered throughout the house in borders against carpet, ceramic and glass. Most in the business run from the mere sight of this type of stone. |
Etches and scratches were abundant. This poor installation didn't have a chance. |
We first sanded out the scratches and etches and then preceded to polish. |
We love to bring a floor back to life! |
How we can do such great work up against carpet and tile is beyond the local franchise companies. We could tell you how we do it, but then ....well you know ;) |
Carpet in front of us and carpet to the rear. We even had white ceramic to our left. We just worked our talents and made that stone obey us. |
| CASE # 8 |
Travertine Court |
This slab Travertine (2 inch thick!) was put down in 1945. Over 60 years ago! It wears like... well, stone. This was one of the best installations I've seen in years. Probably because it was installed back in the day when people took pride in their work. |
Obviously, we still take pride in our work as well. This court house has not looked so good for 60+ years. |
See this crack? |
Now you don't! |
